GVP 8.5

Genesys Voice Platform runs voice applications on its Media Control Platform (MCP), which has no built-in speech engine — it consumes ASR and TTS from external resources over MRCP. Capacity Private Cloud provides those resources. In Genesys, each speech engine is modeled as a Resource Access Point and connected to the MCP, so the integration is essentially: stand up the access points, then attach them to the MCP.

Setup is done through the Genesys Administrator web page. Note an asymmetry worth keeping in mind: on the platform side a single Media Server handles both ASR and TTS, but on the Genesys side ASR and TTS are configured as two separate Resource Access Points.

Prerequisites

First, make sure the platform is installed and functioning properly:

Verify the Media Control Platform

Before connecting Genesys to the platform, verify that the Genesys Media Control Platform is functioning properly. Test it with a VXML application that does not use speech recognition or text-to-speech. You can use the SimpleTest VXML application attached at the bottom of this page — download it and install it on your voice applications web server.

Once your system is configured to use this VXML application, call into it; you should hear an audio file play a simple congratulations message. When this works, you can move on to configuring your ASR and TTS resources (below).

This test can also be used later to verify TTS and ASR functionality by pressing DTMF 1 or 2 during the congratulations message.

Set Up ASR and TTS on Genesys 8.5

After installing and running the platform self-tests, and testing Genesys with a simple VXML application that uses no ASR or TTS, set up Genesys using the following guides:
